Visions of Truth Community Development Corporation (VOTCDC) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization located
in Portsmouth, Virginia that provides educational, community and economic development services to low and
moderate income youth and families of Hampton Roads' economically marginalized communities.
VOTCDC's primary purpose is to help residents achieve self sufficiency and long-term economic stability by
bridging the educational divide for low to moderate income families through a variety of innovative programs
and services.

- class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">This position is responsible for tutoring students on a one-on-one basis or in a small group. Tutors work closely with middle and high youth to assist them in the completion of their assigned schoolwork and to help them improve their reading, English, science, social studies and math skills. Tutors assist students with developing their skills, knowledge and abilities to succeed in their educational environment and, ultimately, the workplace. Tutors must be able to effectively communicate with students, parents and teachers. Tutors must demonstrate patience and understanding with working with low-performing individuals. Because some of the work is computer-based, with an up-to-date computer lab and Internet access, tutors must be computer literate. Some record keeping and general administrative tasks are required. Minimum requirements and skills: Must be certified and able to provide valid teaching certificate. Bachelor's degree in Education, Math, Communications, or related field required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and active listening skills. Strong computer skills including web-based research, word processing, database management, and email and Microsoft Office programs. JOB OPENING - Visions of Truth Community Development Corporation is seeking a CDL licensed bus driver for the Students Taking Responsibility in Valuing Education (STRIVE) Program during the school year. Qualified candidates will provide safe and secure transportation of children enrolled in the STRIVE Program and VOTCDC Program participants. Individuals must have a High School diploma or equivalent, be 21 years of age or older and have a valid Virginia CDL drivers license with a good driving record.
